Safety

If you are careful and follow a few rules, you don't have to get hurt when working on solar projects, or other projects. Safety is an attitude. Taking shortcuts, working while intoxicated or tired, working in a messy environment, and not following the rules can all lead to serious injury or death. Solar systems can have lethal voltages. You can fall off you roof. A battery can explode. You can saw a finger off.

The book Solar Basics has a chapter devoted to safety. Please read the safety chapter before working on any solar system, or for that matter, doing any electrical or mechanical work. You can download a PDF file with safety rules HERE.
