Here you will find information about the actual design process for a solar system. You will also find advanced articles about how solar cells work and how modules are built. If you are a beginner, read the information in the Basics section first.

The design of a solar system can be broken down into a number of logical steps. The first step is an energy audit. It is far more economical to reduce energy use than to increase the size of a solar system. This is especially true of a battery powered system. The other steps are determining the loads, a site survey, array sizing, picking modules and equipment, documentation, and costing.
